WORKSHOP ON “USING DRAMATICS IN CLASSROOM TEACHING”  (REPORT)


A workshop on "Dramatics" was organized by Bethlehem College of Education on 6th Sep 2021.  Former English professor of St.Jude’s College Dr.Savior Dhas was the special guest of the session. The event started at 10 am and ended by 3pm.

Dr.Savior Dhas took over the workshop provided more skill-based tips for the students .  Throughout the session it was informative, interesting, and fun-based learning. Below are some of the inspirational quotations shared by the speaker:

The focal of the Dr.Savior Dhas session concentrated on how "nadaka" can be applied in classroom teaching.   He explained the importance of using expressions and controlling the emotional state of mind through nine different types of Navarasa.  The nine types of Navarasa includes: 1. Arputha(Surprise)  2. Bhayanakha(Fear)  3. Bhebetsa(Disgust)  4. Hasiya(Mirth)  5. Routra(Anger)  6. Shanta(Peace or Tranquility)  7. Shringara (Love)  8. Karuna (Pity)  9. Veera(Courage)

The speaker demonstrated creative possibility of using Nadaka in classroom-teaching even in Chemistry class in a fun way.  He demonstrated interesting way to teach the H2O concept in a Chemistry class.  Using such Nadaka and and Navarassa expressions, will help students learn with a lasting pleasant experience. He said that we (student-teachers) use our talents and skill in singing, dancing, talking and acting in the classroom. He also pointed the importance of learning by doing. So that students will be fully with their mind, brain, memory positively impacting the learning experience.



The guest-speaker played the videos of how even handicapped people able to achieve in their life (1. Bingo zesphine     2. Jessica     3. pastor nick     4.  Korean Dancers ) as an ambassador,  pilot, Pastor, Dancers.  He motivated us by pointing that when such special people could outstand even with such disabilities, then why not the abled-people could achieve the best in life? 


Students were involved with a fun-activity. The guest-speaker narrated a short story and then asked us to write dialogues based on the story. Later, students enacted the dialogues on the stage for 5 minutes. 


At the end of the session, Ms.Benila Rose (student) gave the Vote of thanks on behalf of the organizing committee.
